| Notholca bipalium, a halophile rotifer, swimming, (dorso-) ventral view; typical traits are the very unconspicuous lateral appendages (arrowheads). According to KOSTE this species is larger (here: 220µm) than N. striata; the latter one occurs in salt waters of salinity up to 1,5%, whereas Notholca bipalium occurs in salt water of salinity up to 3,5%.
